PLS—which stands for People – Location - Service—is a leading retail provider of alternative financial services. The PLS Group, headquartered in Chicago, is comprised of over 200 financial service centers in 12 states. Through our check cashing, lending, and our PLS Auto store, we provide consumers with convenient financial products and services to help them manage their day-to-day financial needs. Although many of our customers have banking relationships, we believe that our customers use our financial services because they are more convenient, transparent and frequently more affordable than available traditional alternatives. PLS was founded in 1997 by Bob and Dan Wolfberg, who serve as Co-Presidents.

Position Overview:

Central Underwriter will be responsible for, but not limited to, the underwriting of auto insurance ensuring compliance with appropriate company standards. The Central Underwriter is responsible for the timely examination of commercial documents for accuracy and completeness while working with PLS store personnel and commercial customers to secure all required documents. 

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

• • Review commercial documents to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Accurately enter application data into underwriting tool
  • Adhere to all underwriting policies and procedures
  • Ensure proper and correct decisions for applications submitted, placing emphasis on response time, quantity of applications processed, and quality of applications approved or denied
  • Gather all information required for insurance quotes and sales from the store and customer
  • Present insurance quotes that best meet the customer’s needs
  • Ensure that all required documents are initialed and or signed, and saved in the correct place with each completed sale
  • No outbound insurance calls, no cold calls
  • Potential monthly bonus based on quality assurance and insurance sales conversion rate
  • Other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• • 1-2 years of data entry and/or loan underwriting experience preferred
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to meet production, quality and service standards
  • Must be able to work evenings
  • Ability to assess information with strong attention to detail

  Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 15 lbs.
